Rory is a PhD student in the Briscoe lab. In 2017, he obtained a BA in Cell & Systems Biology at the University of Oxford, where he was awarded a scholarship to New College and two Gibbs Prizes. After a year’s research assistantship in the lab of Rob de Bruin at UCL’s LMCB, he accepted a Frank Knox Fellowship to study a Master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering at Harvard University, focussing on deep learning and generative modelling approaches. Rory joined the lab in 2019 and is looking at how the intersection of single-cell sequencing technology, machine learning and mathematical modelling can provide new ways to study the regulatory logic of development in the neural tube.
